I have been asking myself the question whether or not Social Networks like FaceBook are enough, or are there reasons to develop others at a much smaller scale - like in a particular city?
I am not sure what a person's motivation is by joining a social network, is it for a feeling of acceptance? Is it for the Money? Connecting to old friends? To Stalk past ones? (that was a joke - but seems to be a true-ism if you see some of the social network horror stories)
We live in Valencia CA. So on FaceBook, we can connect, but should there be something else that will include a personal contact component in the mix? In Valencia California, there is a lot to do socially. Maybe a network that starts on line and then develops into meeting as groups to take over restaurants, movie premier's, or huge pot luck events at some of the local parks.
Could be fun and it would get people out from benind their boxes and out in the "real world". It is very hard to shake hands through a computer screen!
